Leather dining chairs need to be durable. One such timber used today is rubber wood. Chairs made out of this wood have a strong built. But the wood is prone to splitting when pinned or screwed. So it has to be shaped with care. Birch wood is a good substitute for this. It picks up a dark finish fast and is most suitable for making bar chairs. Chairs which require light colour finish can best be made from Ashwood. This timber has a very attractive grain similar to that of cut Oakwood.

Some companies selling chairs offer a certificate from Furniture Industry Research Association (FIRA). If you get such a guarantee, you can be sure that the bar chairs will last the course.
